Peer-review Process followed by the Journal

Asian History
follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published manuscripts.

1.       Initial Screening

o    All submissions are first screened by the Editorial Office to check for completeness, adherence to submission guidelines, plagiarism, and relevance to the aims and scope of the journal.

o    Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements are returned to authors for correction or rejected at this stage.

2.      Assignment to Editor/Section Editor

o    Suitable manuscripts are assigned to an Editor or Section Editor with expertise in the subject area.

o    The Editor makes an initial assessment of the paper’s quality, novelty, and contribution to the field.

3.      Double-Blind Peer Review

o    Manuscripts passing the initial assessment are sent to at least two independent reviewers.

o    Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other (double-blind system).

o    Reviewers evaluate the manuscript on parameters such as originality, methodology, clarity, scholarly contribution, and relevance.

4.      Review Decision

o    Based on reviewers’ reports, the Editor makes one of the following decisions:

§  Accept without revision

§  Minor revisions required

§  Major revisions required

§  Reject

o    Review comments are shared with the authors to improve the manuscript.

5.      Revision & Resubmission

o    Authors are required to address all reviewer comments and resubmit the revised manuscript within a stipulated time frame.

o    Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by reviewers if necessary.

6.      Final Editorial Decision

o    The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding acceptance after ensuring that all concerns have been addressed and quality standards are met.

STEPS BEFORE PUBLICATION

Once a manuscript is accepted, the following steps are carried out before it is published:

1.       Copyediting

o    The accepted manuscript undergoes professional language editing, formatting, and reference style checking (APA/MLA/Chicago, as per journal requirement).

2.      Proofreading

o    Authors receive page proofs for final corrections. Only minor changes are allowed at this stage (no major revisions).

3.      Plagiarism Check (Final)

o    A final plagiarism screening is conducted to ensure originality before publication.

4.      DOI Assignment & Metadata Preparation

o    Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and metadata is prepared for indexing databases and repositories.

5.      Online Publication

o    The final version of the article is published online in the journal’s quarterly issue.

o    The article becomes accessible as open access, ensuring wide visibility and readership.

6.      Indexing & Archiving

o    Published articles are deposited in indexing databases and digital archives with which the journal is associated.
